GLITCH WINS BIG IN 2016

Congratulations to Matchbox for their win at this years AACTA awards, with Glitch taking Best Television Drama for 2015!

Directed by Emma Freeman and produced by Louise Fox and Ewan Burnett, Glitch was well received by critics and audiences Australia-wide for it's sombre mood and intriguing mythology.

Chroma produced over 400 VFX shots for the 6-part series including the creepy Carlo disintegration sequence. This episode won the coveted Australian Directors Guild Awards for Emma Freeman's incredible work.

UPDATE: Glitch also takes home the 2016 Silver Logie for Most Outstanding Television Series

AACTA WIN FOR SECRET RIVER

Congratulations to Ruby Entertainment for taking home the 2015 AACTA award for Best Production Design in Television for The Secret River. Well done to Herbert Pinter, Michael Rumpf and the whole design and art team!

The Secret River was an ambitious vision for the small screen, featuring vast untouched landscapes and sprawling colonial settlements of early NSW. Chroma worked closely with production design and art department to help create hundreds of visual effects shots including set extensions, CG structures, location and landscape augmentations, watercraft and more.

The Secret River is a great example of striking the balance between practical and digital production design to deliver huge scale to the small screen.

DOCTOR BLAKE SERIES 4 (Series)

The good doctor returns once more for a forth series of The Doctor Blake Mysteries.

One of ABC's most popular franchises, Doctor Blake is back to solve another round of devious crimes. Since season one, the show has always lent heavily on digital aumentation to achieve it's unique 1950's environments and crime scene set pieces, and this years series is no different with every episode bringing even more variety for fans to enjoy.

The Doctor Blake Mysteries hits the ABC later this year.

SHAUN MICALLEF FOR PM

Mr. Micallef returns to the screen once again in The ExPM.

Directed by Sian Davies and produced by CJZ, The ExPM journals life of former fictional Prime Minister Andrew Dugdale as he attempts to return to normal life.

In a country were politics is already a joke, and featuring talents like John Clarke, you know it's going to be a treat. After working with Shaun on Newstopia and Mad As Hell, it's a joy to be bringing more comedy to Australian screens. The team at Chroma were on hand for several VFX sequences, some fun CG integration and the usual round of cleanups and augments.

The ExPM can be seen on televisions at some point... probably on ABC.

PETER ALLEN (Miniseries)

Peter Allen was one of Australia's best known musical exports during the 1980's and Shine's latest production, Peter Allen: Not the boy next door brings his tale to the small screen in 2015. The series features a wide range of visual effects from Chroma including numerous digital augments and CG enhancements throughout the 2-part production.

Peter Allen: Not the boy next door will broadcast on the Seven Network in September.

MOLLY (Telemovie)

The journey of Australian music guru Molly Meldrum will be brought to the small screen this year in Seven's 'Molly'. This two-part series covers Molly's rise from country boy, to host of ABC's Countdown and beyond. Chroma produced over 600 shots for the show including CG location builds, simtrav, screen inserts and a host of production design enhancements both large and small.

Molly premiers on the Seven Network later this year.

JACK IRISH BACK FOR SERIES 3

Guy Pierce returns as Jack Irish in another set of telemovies for 2015.

Chroma return from our work on the first two seasons to provide a whole host of visual effects solutions including location, stunt and production design enhancements throughout.

THE BEAUTIFUL LIE (Series)

Endemol's latest drama is headed to screens this year, based the classic book Anna Karenina by Tolstoy, directed by Glendyn Ivin and Peter Salmon and produced by John Edwards and Imogen Banks. Chroma provided a host of VFX shots including CG integration, screen inserts, cleanups and augments throughout the series.

The Beautiful Lie comes to the ABC this year.

GLITCH (Series)

Glitch is the latest genre production to come out of Matchbox pictures.
Directed by Emma Freeman and produced by Ewan Burnett and Louise Fox, Glitch presents an intriguing story set in a sleepy country town with a shadowy past.

The team at Chroma produced over 350 shots for the 6 part series covering a wide range of VFX techniques and production solutions. One sequence in particular involves some very complex CG integration and dynamics simulation, but you'll have to watch the show to find out more ;)

Blackfella Films and ABC3 join forces for Ready For This, an indigenous drama charting the courses of five kids coming to the big city to explore their true potential. Chroma produced several landscape shots for the production in addition to a few cleanups and augments.

GALLIPOLI (Miniseries)

We are just putting the final pieces in place for Endemol's upcoming epic 'Gallipoli'.

The team at Chroma have been hard at work creating hundreds of challenging shots for the sprawling saga that covers just about every trick in the book, from enhancing overall production design and locations to ballistics, stunts and much more.

Gallipoli is a shocking and powerful exploration of the sacrifice and bloodshed endured by Australians and other allied forces presented in a harsh yet intimate style.

Gallipoli is coming to the Nine Network in 2015 and is not to be missed.

THE SECRET RIVER (TeleMovie)

Australia's colonial beginnings are brought to life in ABC's new miniseries, The Secret River.

Based on the book by Kate Grenville and directed by Daina Reid, Secret River follows the life of an English conscript arriving at Botany Bay with his wife and children. The Secret River shows a part of Australia's history that has never been brought to the small screen with such scale and emotion, and is an amazing opportunity to show the beauty and brutality of our first steps.

Our team will be creating the many unique views of these early settlements and a huge range of production design and visual effect enhancements across the two episodes.

The Secret River hits ABC on June 14. Check out the trailer!

MISS FISHER RETURNS FOR THIRD SERIES

Following on huge ratings and massive audience response, ABC have just announced that Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries will return to screens in 2015.

Miss Fisher has always been great fun to work on due to the visual variety across the series and the awesome cast and crew that make it come to life. Last years series featured over 1,200 VFX shots to create the unique and lush 1920's world and series 3 looks to be the best yet, with even more stylish set pieces and old school action!

The team at Chroma return to provide digital effects and production design support for series 3, with the usual blend of augmentation, CG integration and digital removals.

Miss Fisher comes to the ABC in 2015, don't miss it!

INXS: NEVER TEAR US APART (Telemovie)

INXS: Never Tear Us Apart hit Australian screens recently, pulling in an impressive audience and rave reviews from the press. Produced by Shine and Directed by Daina Reid, it's a bitter sweet and faithful retelling of the fame and tragedy surrounding the band.

We produced over a hundred shots for the two-part telemovie, including CG vehicles, aircraft, extras duplication, TV burn-ins, exterior digimattes, archival repair, technical fixes and countless augments and removals throughout. We even recreated the Suicide Blonde music video in all its 'tape suite' glory. With our team on call throughout production, many departments had access to our time and resource saving techniques, resulting in quick solutions to traditional limitations in locations, extras, vehicles, production design and much more.

DR BLAKE MYSTERIES SECOND SEASON (Series)

December Productions 2013 hit, Dr.Blake Mysteries is coming back for a well deserved second season. Set in 1950's Victoria, Blake features a range of period locations and action sequences that require some complicated digital trickery, continuing on from our work on the first series.

Over 350 shots were created for this season, mainly removal of modern elements from locations but also lots of extras duplication, stunt augmentation, digimattes, ants, bees and heaps more.
